Undefeated prospect Paul Sass will fight for just the second time in about 17 months when he returns at UFC 146.

UFC officials have confirmed about between Sass (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and fellow lightweight Jacob Volkmann (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) for the May event.

UFC 146 takes place May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  In the main event, heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will put his title on the the line against Alistair Overeem.  The main card will air on pay-per-view with preliminary bouts likely airing on FUEL TV or FX.

After winning his first 10 professional fights (nine of which came by submission), Sass made his Octagon debut at UFC 120 in October of 2010 where he submitted Mark Holst and earned the event's "Submission of the Night" award.  Sass didn't fight again for almost a year.  He then returned at "UFC on Versus: Cruz vs. Johnson" in October of 2011 where he earned his eleventh submission-victory by forcing Michael Johnson to tap.  The 23-year-old was expected to fight Evan Dunham at "UFC on FOX 2" before being forced out with an injury.

Volkmann, meanwhile, will look to remain unbeaten as a lightweight.  After losing his first two fights in the UFC to perenial-welterweight contenders Martin Kampmann and Paulo Thiago, "Christmas" made the drop to lightweight.  He has since reeled off five straight decision-victories.  Most recently, he earned a unanimous-decision win over "The Ultimate Fighter" winner Efrain Escudero at UFC 141.

It is unclear if Sass vs. Volkmann will be a part of the main card or preliminary card.
