A potentially-explosive bout in the UFC's lightweight division is expected for UFC 146.

UFC president Dana White tweeted that Edson Barboza (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will take on Evan Dunham (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) at the May event.

UFC 146 takes place May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  Headlining the event is a heavyweight championship fight between title-holder Junior dos Santos and top-contender Alistair Overeem.  The main card will air live on pay-per-view with preliminary bouts expected to air on FX or FUEL TV.

Barboza looks to stay unbeaten in his MMA career.  Fresh off a likely "Knockout of the Year" performance, Barboza is quickly gaining a reputation as a spectacular striker with the ability to finish fights.  After stopping Mike Lullo in his Octagon debut with leg kicks, "Junior" won consecutive decisions over Anthony Njokuani and Ross Pearson before his brutal spinning-back-wheel-kick knockout of Terry Etim at UFC 142 in January.

Once thought to be the future of the lightweight division, Dunham has bounced back from recent setbacks with back-to-back wins.  After winning his first four fights in the UFC (which included notable wins over Efrain Escudero and Tyson Griffin), "3-D" was then out-pointed by Sean Sherk then stopped by Melvin Guillard.  He has since bounced back with a decision win over Shamar Bailey and a TKO stoppage of Nik Lentz which earned him a "Fight of the Night" bonus at "UFC on FOX 2."

The winner of the bout will move one step closer to a potential title shot.

Barboza vs. Dunham will likely be a part of the pay-per-view main card.
