A bout between a pair of UFC heavyweights coming off knockout victories has been added to the UFC's third show on FOX.
Additionally, a lightweight fight between an Octagon veteran and a "The Ultimate Fighter" winner has also been added to the card.
UFC brass has confirmed bouts between Lavar Johnson (16-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Pat Barry (7-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and between Dennis Hallman (51-14-2 MMA, 4-5 UFC) and Tony Ferguson (13-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC).
"UFC on FOX 3" takes place May 5 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Headlining the event is a lightweight battle between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller. The main card will air live on FOX with preliminary bouts likely airing on FUEL TV.
Fresh off a successful UFC debut over Joey Beltran, Johnson looks to make it two wins in a row. "Big" went 3-2 in Strikeforce before making his way to the UFC. The win halted a two-fight losing skid which included submission losses to Shane del Rosario and Shawn Jordan.
Barry also recently snapped a two-fight losing stint. After suffering a knockout loss to Cheick Kongo in one of the greatest come-from-behind wins in UFC history, "HD" followed that up with a submission loss to Stefan Struve. However, at UFC on FX 1, Barry was able to rebound with a knockout victory over Christian Morecraft.
The seasoned-vet Hallmann will also be looking for his second consecutive win. After wining back-to-back bouts against Ben Saunders and Karo Parisyan, "Superman" began to gain momentum. However, a submission loss to Brian Ebersole halted his streak. In his most recent bout, Hallman earned a submission win over John Makdessi at UFC 140.
His opponent, Ferguson will look to remain undefeated in the UFC. After winning season 13 of "TUF" by knocking out Ramsey Nijem, "El Cucuy" followed that up with wins over Aaron Riley and Yves Edwards.
It is unknown if the bouts will be a part of the main card or preliminary card.
